What is Linden Tea?
Linden tea is a floral herbal tea made by brewing the flowers and leaves from the common linden/lime tree (Tilia x europaea). Linden trees stand out for their beauty and extraordinary size, sometimes growing well over 100ft tall. Linden trees can also live for as long as 1,000 years!
The delicate creamy-yellow flowers which grow on linden trees each spring are used to make linden tea. They create the floral, mild and slightly sweet taste of linden tea.
History of Linden:
The linden tree was deemed sacred to the Ancient Greeks and Egyptians, who celebrated its protective properties. Linden trees were so worshipped that linden infusions became known as “nectar of kings” due to their powerful health benefits.
Linden flowers were central to European traditional herbal medicine in the Middle Ages, and Native Americans also celebrated linden for its health benefits, including soothing the nervous system and treating digestive discomfort.
Nutritional Information of Linden Tea:
Linden tea is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Linden tea also contains essential oils including citral, citronellal, citronellol, eugenol, and limonene, which are linked to multiple health benefits.
